Q: How do you feel about her repetitive wins?
A: Fantastic! She won Best of Breed in her first ever show and that's when I knew she was something special. Despite there not being too many English Foxhound kennels around, the quality is there in all of them, so there is always serious competition. I was lucky with Pearl Earring I'll admit but already the breed has moved on and although she is still competitive she is no longer the star she once was.
Q: When you breed her, did you think she would be this successful?
A: I had no idea to be honest. Her dam White Birch Elisebetta Sirani was just kept as a brood bitch and I outsourced for the stud to Westlea - the current top kennel so I guess that's where the quality came in.
Q: What do you hope she accomplishes in the future?
A: After she finished her GCH I retired her to breed, but I intend to enter her in the odd special.
Q:What do you hope for her offspring?
A: Pearl Earring has a fantastic topline - a really important attribute of the breed - so hopefully that will be passed on to her litters. If I manage to finish a few of her pups, then I will be happy. Unfortunately her COI is higher than I would like, so that may limit what studs I breed her to.
Q: Tell us about her pedigree...
A: Her grandmother GCH CH White Birch Francis Bacon is my favourite dog. She was my first Grand Champion and at the time had the highest sop in the breed by a long way. Unfortunately, I was so excited by her SOP, I named her after a male artist, but hey! At the time I didn't have that many quality studs of my own so I was outsourcing a lot. The name Westlea crops up in all my dogs pedigrees again and again, but you've got to go where the quality is!

Thank you White Birch for taking this interview, and good luck with her as a brood!
